Pender Community Hospital Director of Rural Health Clinics Named a 2025 Community Star
Pender, Neb. (November 24, 2025) – On National Rural Health Day, the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) announced its 2025 Community Stars, recognizing outstanding leaders and organizations making a meaningful impact in rural communities across the country. Pender Community Hospital’s Director of Rural Health Clinics, Lori Minert, was honored among this year’s recipients.
The Community Stars program highlights individuals and organizations from 47 states whose dedication, compassion, and innovation strengthen the health and vitality of rural communities. Lori’s recognition reflects more than three decades of commitment to Pender Community Hospital and Medical Clinics and her community.
With more than 30 years of service at Pender Community Hospital & Medical Clinics, Lori has helped shape the future of rural health care in northeast Nebraska. As Director of Rural Health Clinics and a member of the senior leadership team, she oversees the Hospital’s four rural health clinics and the provider staff.
Lori’s leadership extends well beyond the walls of the hospital. She volunteers as an EMT, serves on Pender’s Beautification Committee, contributes actively to her church, and played a key role in launching Thriftique, a local thrift store that has returned more than $500,000 to community initiatives. Her work reflects the spirit of the “Power of Rural”—a belief in working hard, caring deeply, and lifting up neighbors through service.
“Lori represents the very best of rural health,” said Laura Gamble, RN, CEO of Pender Community Hospital. “Her dedication, compassion, and relentless commitment to doing what’s right for our patients and our community make her an extraordinary leader. This recognition is well deserved, and we are grateful for the difference she makes every single day.”
Lori’s passion for rural health began when she returned to northeast Nebraska to raise her family and discovered her calling as a volunteer EMT. Since then, she has remained focused on ensuring that rural communities have access to high-quality, compassionate care close to home. Throughout her career, she has championed community engagement, organizing drive-thru vaccine clinics, participating in local parades, and supporting events across the region.
Pender Community Hospital is proud to celebrate Lori Minert as a 2025 NOSORH Community Star and grateful for her decades of leadership, service, and heart for rural health.
